About Rail Crew Tests
Thousands of people apply for conductor, guard and train manager jobs every year, and almost all of them sit an assessment they have never seen before — with far less practice material available than train drivers get. Rail Crew Tests exists so that the first time you meet each exercise is not on the day.
How the exercises are built
We start from public sources: operator job adverts and careers pages, and accounts that applicants have posted publicly about what they sat. From those descriptions we build our own exercises. Nothing is copied or reworked from a real assessment, which is confidential, and we have never seen one.
- Content is generated fresh each run where the exercise allows it, so there is nothing to memorise — which matters when a reapplication can be months away.
- Generators are checked automatically: every item solvable, one defensible answer, balanced answer patterns.
- Timing runs on real elapsed time and copes with switching tabs, so the pacing is honest.
- Every exercise works with a keyboard and on a phone, with visible focus and text labels.
What we will not claim
We are not a train operator, not a test publisher, and not affiliated with anyone who writes or runs these assessments. Our exercises are practice in a similar shape, not a replica. We will not tell you what score you need, because no operator publishes one. We never promise a score, an interview or a job. Read the full disclaimer.
